Mert Başer Automotive Public And Private Sales Manager, Murat Başarir: ''Our Biggest Advantage Is That: We Are A Local Manufacturer''

As My Truck Magazine, we continue our negotiations with the dealers of the important brands of the sector. Accordingly, Nuray Pekcan, Editor-in-Chief of My Truck Magazine, had interview with Murat Başarır, the Public and Private Sales Manager of Ford Dealer Mert Başer Otomotiv in Ankara. Giving information about the dealer and staff structure, Özçelik said that; “Our organization has approximately 40 years of experience. We continue to struggle under our company with the effort and pride led by our founder Mustafa Başer and Mr. Ali Başer with the principle of honesty and trust, from the passenger car trade to today's heavy vehicle trade. We continue to serve in the field with experienced personnel in second-hand and after-sales in Ford passenger commercial, heavy commercial group, Otokar light truck segment and New Holland construction equipment. The biggest advantage this brings to us is that; when our team goes to the customer in the field, they become a solution partner for our customers in every issue including the need for an automobile or a truck, and they go with a complex solution, knowledge and experience. There is good coordination among our groups; everyone can share this information with each other and we can take quick action with the customer.

"Our Biggest Advantage is That: We Are A Local Manufacturer"

Describing themselves as amateur spirits who take a professional view of the truck business, Başarır states that they quickly respond to the demands of the customers in the field. Referring to the pandemic process, Başarır: “The pandemic process has of course affected our industry as it affected every sector. Shifts were decreased, everyone was surprised at first. However, our biggest advantage as the Ford Trucks truck group is that: we are a local manufacturer. Our factory is located in İnönü, Eskişehir and we can respond quickly to production demands. Thanks to these, we have shown that we are always with our customers. In fact, we are a brand that mostly approaches market analysis with caution. We can supply, we can respond quickly. Meanwhile, the change created by the pandemic in the trade cycle paved the way for the logistics industry and transportation came to the fore. Therefore, increasing demands were reflected in the market. We answered the demands as much as possible. We are proud of our brand, but we have works that we expect from the factory to produce enough to keep our customers waiting for a certain time.

"We Get Great Demands For F-MAX"

While talking about the increasing demand for the award-winning truck F-MAX, Başarır said that; "The F-MAX was named the "International Truck of the Year "in 2019 and subsequently the truck of the year in Austria. In Turkey, it showed an increase in demand by reflecting our market expectations even more to customers. We are currently receiving great demands for the F-MAX; for this reason, we also have orders that we put our customers on hold. "

"Municipalities Started to Purchase Super Structured Vehicles As Self – Owned Vehicle"

Emphasizing that municipalities have started to prefer superstructured vehicles on a self-owned basis, Başarır: Approximately 2 years ago, with the subcontractor law, upon the transfer of the personnel working in service vehicles to the municipality, the fact that the municipality has to rent vehicles started to reveal the real costs of the business. We think that we explain the price-benefit relationof this business to our municipalities and public institutions. Municipalities started to run with their own vehicles instead of buying and renting superstructure vehicles.”

"We Provide Tailored Chassis Vehicle Suitable for Superstructure"

Talking about the advantages that make them stand out in public procurement, Başarır said that; “We are the only vehicle in the heavy commercial vehicle sector with a domestic product certificate, approximately 89 percent of us are domestic. In the future, this rate will increase and begin to make itself felt in the market. We are the only authorized dealer in Ankara; at the same time, we provide on-site service with mobile service to Central Anatolia and Western Black Sea Region. We are always on the field in order not to cause problems for both public institutions and retail customers after sales and to produce fast solutions. Our biggest advantage about public vehicles is that, we supply a tailor-made chassis vehicle suitable for the superstructure. If the need of a municipality is a garbage vehicle, we can offer tailor-made infrastructure suitable for that superstructure when considering a vehicle suitable for garbage from its chassis to center of gravity, an excavation group vehicle when a tipper is requested, or a road sweeper. Chassis trucks perform in the field by integrating with unfinished vehicles and superstructure. Here, too, when you give the chassis truck under the correct superstructure, both user satisfaction and after-sales problems are eliminated.

"Ford Trucks' Perspective Changed with F-MAX"

Başarır also made evaluations about the award-winning tractor F-MAX: The F-MAX is indeed a vehicle that emerged as a result of the thought of "how can a smooth vehicle be" with the notifications that our Turkish engineers worked on for a long time and received from the field. Ford Trucks' perspective has changed with the F-MAX, it has become a brand opened to the world market, and these vehicles are running in international logistics. The F-MAX definitely impresses with its comfort, quietness, widest cabin feature and performance, and we receive positive feedback. In other words, when a customer buys this vehicle, it becomes a reference to another customer in selling the vehicle.

"We See More Demand in the Truck and Road Segments"

Expressing that there is more demand in the tractor and road segments, Başarır: The truck market is divided into three segments: excavation, road and tractor segments. The contribution of the F-MAX in the tractor segment is definitely impressive. As we continue our market-weighted excavation series, we see more demand in the tow truck and road segment. This is because; the logistics sector becoming more prominent, increasing the demands of municipalities in public and urban vehicles and the vehicles being able to meet the needs. Along with these, we also feel the increase in the market and we can observe that this increase will continue in the upcoming period. In the tractor segment in the market, Ford Trucks says "I am here too" and proceeds confidently. "

"Demands Will Continue Increasingly Until the End of the Year"

Stating that the pending demands turn into needs and reflect on the market, Başarır: The closing of this year is actually the accumulation of expected demands and needs to date. During the transition period, everyone had a suspension period; but the market and trade continue. These demands have now become a real need; very positive now. I think these demands will increasingly continue until the end of the year. Of course, the pandemic process continues and there is an increase in exchange rates. However, we believe that we will achieve good success in 2021 with bold steps, with our brand and our local identity, price and after-sales advantages. "

Having made evaluations regarding after-sales and second-hand purchases and sales, Başarır: As a group company, with the sales, after-sales and second-hand services under the umbrella of many brands, we also provide on-site after-sales service. The vision of our company is always based on getting stronger, opening up to better investments and running confidently in the period when the market is relaxed. For this reason, we have great structures within ourselves. On the basis of brand the staff is getting stronger and expanding in the units related to the tractor, construction equipment, truck and Otokar group. In this process, we will increase this power and go to the future with more confident steps.

"We Sold Almost 90 Percent of Our Stock"

Stating that they saw positive reflections in the second-hand market, Başarır said: “In this period, we experienced a very rapid second-hand acceleration due to the inability to supply new cars, rapid transitions in the market and the emergence of urgent vehicle needs. We received great demands and sold almost 90 percent of our stock. Now, when our customers say "do we have this vehicle?", we can say "we don't have it for now". Unable to find brand new vehicles, customers quickly turned to the second hand; because people have to continue what they have taken. We have received the positive feedback of second hand in this market. "

Underlining that they always stand by their customers, Başarır said that; “With the principles of honesty and integrity of our founders; we keep on our way with the motto of being a solution partner at every end and making them feel that we stand by them, while saying that we always stand by our customers "together in every load".
