Ford Trucks Deputy General Manager Serhan Turfan, '50 Percent of Vehicles To Be Sold to Europe in 2030 Will Be Zero Emissions'

Nuray Pekcan, Editor-in-Chief of My Truck Magazine, attended the IAA Transportation 2022-Hannover Commercial Vehicles Fair as a guest of Ford Trucks. At the fair, where Ford Trucks showed the power of the Turks, the brand displayed the steps it took in terms of environmentalism, and received great appreciation from the guests and visitors with its high-tech vehicles.

Ford Trucks Deputy General Manager Serhan Turfan, 50 Percent of Vehicles To Be Sold to Europe in 2030 Will Be Zero Emissions

“WE ARE GOING TO HAVE ZERO EMISSIONS FOR ALL VEHICLES WE OFFER IN OUR FORD TRUCKS PORTFOLIO UNTIL 2024”

“THE WORK OF TURKISH ENGINEERS!”

While Ford Trucks Deputy General Manager Serhan Tufan introduced their new vehicles to us at the fair, he also gave the news of the transformation that will take place in the very near future.

“50% of Vehicles to be Sold to Europe in 2030 Will Be Zero Emissions”

“The Work of Turkish Engineers”

Serhan Turfan started his remarks by saying that; “We are together again after four years at the 2022 Hannover International Commercial Vehicles Fair (IAA), which is pretty good for us. Four years ago, the fair was also very important for us, and it received the F-MAX International Truck of the Year (IToY) Award. The same importance continues today, because we introduced our new vehicle, which is the work of Turkish engineers.” Serhan Turfan gave information about the 100 percent electric vehicles introduced at the fair and said that; “We are taking very important steps in terms of environmentalism. By 2030, 50 percent of the vehicles to be sold to Europe will be zero emissions. In 2040, we aim to have zero carbon emission vehicles in our portfolio in all our operations. We presented our 100 percent electric vehicle, which is one of our valuable products that will serve us on this path. Our vehicle has 4x2 and 6x2 versions, it can be in the road truck segment. In Europe, there is a great trend towards zero-emission vehicles in line with agreements such as the EU Green Deal and ACEA. We have developed such a vehicle because we think that the transformation to electric vehicles in the heavy commercial segment in Turkey will start primarily with urban transportation. We have produced a vehicle that we think will be in high demand from our municipalities, especially in Turkey, that will significantly reduce operating costs and provide many more advantages. The understanding of environmentalism has also started in our municipalities, and many of our municipalities, seeing that the costs per enterprise have decreased so much and the advantages provided by our vehicle, wanted to buy our vehicle immediately. Therefore, we estimate that these vehicles will be used in many municipalities by 2024."

“Developed with Feedback from Customers”

Explaining that as Ford Trucks, they started the Generation F movement in heavy commercial vehicles with the aim of "being a companion who cares about their customers and improves their business", and continued his speech about the 300-kilometer range, 100 percent electric vehicles developed in line with the feedback from their customers, Serhan Turfan said that; “It has been tested many times in municipalities. As a result of these tests, together with many data on the use of the vehicles, the power of our vehicle was further increased, for example, we put more batteries in this vehicle and brought it to the optimum level. However, of course, there will be many differences according to our customers and we have the chance to offer different packages according to these demands.”

“We Aim For All The Vehicles We Offer In Our Portfolio To Be Zero-Emission In 2024”

“Our Vehicles Are Surprisingly And Delightfully Quiet”

Mentioning that their vehicle will be put on sale at the beginning of 2024, Turfan states that they haven't announced the name of the new vehicle since it has been one and a half years, but that they will launch the name to the world with great enthusiasm at the next launch. Stating that the Ford Trucks brand, which provides service in 43 countries in a global arena, will increase this number to 50 and that they aim to have zero emission vehicles in the brand's porter by 2024, Tufan also states that the silence of the vehicle is surprising and pleasing. Tufan said that; “Our vehicles are surprisingly quiet. Of course, our work continues for this silence, which gives great surprise and pleasure, so that there is no problem in terms of security. When we look at it, we are talking about environmentalism and the production of an important vehicle that greatly improves the quality of human life. As our vehicles increase, everyone will witness how the chaos and noise in the city traffic decrease.”

“With Connected Technology, We Can Serve 24 Hours From The Owner Of The Fleet To The Driver In All Areas Of Use”

Stating that the comfort provided to the users is a must for their brands, Turfan also mentions that their vehicles have a connected technology called ConnecTruck, developed by Ford Trucks engineers, and that thanks to this technology, they have reached a quality that can serve the driver 24 hours a day. Serhan Tufan said: “Our vehicles will be monitored 24 hours a day from our center in order to ensure that these vehicles do not stay on the road in any way, so we will be able to instantly solve any problem that our driver needs a solution to. In fact, we are now in a position to intervene without problems. We will make lives easier with our ConnecTruck technology.”

“We Will Provide Charging Service With Our Contracted Companies”

“In 2024, You Will Be Able To Get Service For These Vehicles In All Our Services”

Expressing that charging in electric vehicles is an indispensable issue, one that needs to be considered, Turfan talked about Ford Trucks' work in this direction and said that; "Currently, we, the manufacturers, are designing services to offer to our customers. Our current plan is to deliver our vehicles to our customers and municipalities with the necessary charging infrastructure. In other words, we will offer charging services together with our vehicles. As a result of our work with foreign parties in this regard, we will provide this service to our customers. If we think of it as a superstructure, we will have an agreement with charging companies that develop this type of technology in charging, just as we have superstructure manufacturers that are currently approved, whose quality we regularly control, and with which we progress in cooperation. Together with them, we will be offering this service to our customers under the assurance of the Ford brand. Our preparations have started in this direction in all our services, and when 2024 comes, including the charging infrastructure, you will be able to receive service for these vehicles at all our services.

“At First Sight, Our Overseas Sales Can Be One Step Ahead Of Domestic”

Regarding the market share of new fully electric vehicles, Turfan said that; “Currently, we are progressing in the form of 50% domestic market and 50% export. We also serve mainly to Europe abroad. Our estimation is that these vehicles will progress at least in this way. However, if we consider that Europe is a little more advanced in electric vehicle infrastructure, at first glance, our foreign market may be one step ahead of the domestic market. In this regard, of course, we will manage according to the high demand from our municipalities.”

Expressing that the growth of Ford Trucks, which also exhibited larger tank versions of the F-MAX, which had great success in international trade, at the fair, was significantly dependent on this model, Turfan gives the good news that the work on the F-MAX continues and there will be surprises.

Autonomous technologies presented by Ford Trucks at the 2022 Hannover International Commercial Vehicle Fair (IAA) will serve the brand's future vision and global expansion.

Expressing that the topics they highlight are new technologies and autonomous vehicles, Turfan also talked about the "Remote Vehicle Control" technology exhibited at the fair and said that; "With this technology we presented to our visitors at the fair today, you can experience using the F-MAX in Eskişehir, where we are 2,000 km away. This technology, which our customers show great interest in, will be one of the most important technologies developed in autonomous and will be of great benefits, a study that we will apply to the F-MAX in the future. For example, a system where you can use all vehicles from the central station with the remote control system, without putting the driver at risk, in a mine or a very dangerous construction site, in any field that would endanger the safety of the driver. In addition, we are talking about a technology that can be connected remotely, which allows you to step in instead of the driver when you detect any problem or malfunction in the vehicle. Therefore, we will be able to prevent problems that will endanger secu
